All of us at Claire Academy of art faculties invite you to come and experience the visual art this spring, where our accomplished artists and art teachers will teach a variety of traditional along with contemporary art classes that are designed for students’ of all ages and levels of experience . Here at Claire Academy of Art we encourage students to not only grow as artists, but to fully immerse themselves in an educational environment that stimulates creativity and a love of learning.
Whether you’ve never taken an art class before, or are a more experienced artist, Our Claire Academy of art has the great class for you. We look forward to seeing you Spring.
Our classes encourages students, through a hands-on approach, to experience a variety of media, such as graphite, pastel, watercolor, acrylic painting, oil painting media… Learn more basic and advanced techniques, and sharpen their maturing appreciation of many artists and artistic styles. In our classes, we will inspire and encourage students to explore their imaginations and creativity. We believe every body is a completely unique creature, and that if we are ever to give any gift to the world it will have to come out of our own experience of our own potentialities. And to create art is a great way of the fulfillment.
Yearly Programs We Offer
1. I love to draw (age 6-9)
This class is for young people who love drawing. Students will be introduced to various materials including marker, ink, color pencils, oil pastels, watercolor… Focus is on building skills along with understanding the potential of each media. Creative expression will be encouraged. Students will have fun while creating cartoon characters, making small comic book. The basic six art elements and art principles will be introduced during doodling and drawing.
2. I love to paint (age 6-9)
Students will learn basic techniques of painting through experimenting with color, brush stokes, composition and different styles of paintings. Students will work with varies of paint media such as watercolors, pastels, acrylic paint. In the class, students will study color mixing, color characters and practice tints and shades. Individual expression will be emphasized while learning about brush stokes, composition and color. The class encourages students to observe the world through the eyes of an artist.
3. Developing Drawing (age 10-13)
Students will develop a good foundation for drawing. The class will introduce students to study still life, landscapes, portrait, and more. Student will learn perspectives, value, shading. The class will study surrealism and cubism movements to inspire students’ imaginations and creations. Individual attention will be given to both beginning students who have not had the opportunity for technical instruction and advanced students who are working to refine their skills for their art projects.
4. Youth Art (age 10-13) Developing Painting
Student will gain experience with different painting media such as pastels, watercolor, acrylic. Color theory and color schemes will be introduced and practiced during class. Student will learn painting techniques such as glazing, dry on wet, and wet on wet to create depth in paintings while study still life, landscape and portrait. During class, students will be given individual attention to promote creativity and growth
5. AP Prep Course
“AP Studio Art is a series of Advanced Placement Course divided into three different categories: AP Studio Art Drawing, AP Studio Art 2D Design, and AP Studio Art 3D Design.
the AP Studio Art Exam is a portfolio that encompasses 3 different categories: Quality, Concentration, and Breadth. Depending on the AP Studio Art exam the person is taking, the components for each of the 3 categories will vary.”
AP Prep Course is the most advanced level class among all the classes we offer. This class is for students interested in a rigorous and focused study in art. This course is based on a student creating 24 pieces of work that demonstrates quality, concentration and breadth to correspond to the college foundation courses.
The class will allow flexibility of coursework while guiding student to produce college-level quality, artistic investigation, and breadth of work. The Drawing portfolio addresses issues such as line quality, light and shade, rendering of form, composition, surface manipulation, the illusion of depth, and mark-making. Students’ portfolios demonstrate skills and ideas developed, refined, and applied throughout the course to produce visual compositions. Students may choose to submit any or all of the portfolios. Portfolios are evaluated based on standardized scoring descriptors aligned with skills and understanding developed in college foundation courses.
Choice, collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity will be the five coaching method engage in the classroom.
6. Adult Art class: Basic Drawing and Painting
This class will focus on a traditional studio approach to drawing and painting from observation. Students will practice basic skill with emphasis on light, shadow, value, form, line quality, and perspective. Students will learn to draw and paint with a variety of media including charcoal, graphite, ink, watercolor, acrylic, and more.
The class will be enhancing students’ knowledge of color theory and design. Students will learn how to apply these principles to their own artwork, and in turn gain a greater sense of confidence, as they pursue their individual art creation.
